A manufacturer defect warranty is a guarantee that a product will be free from flaws in its materials and workmanship for a specified period, typically requiring repair or replacement if a defect occurs during that time. It covers issues originating from the manufacturing process itself and does not usually cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, or misuse. To understand your rights, it's crucial to read the warranty's terms and conditions before purchasing and to keep records of the purchase and any maintenance performed.

What it covers:
  • Defects in Materials: Flaws in the raw materials used to make the product.
  • Defects in Workmanship: Errors or issues in how the product was assembled or put together during the manufacturing process.
  • Malfunctions: If a part of the product fails due to an internal issue rather than external factors.

 

What it typically does NOT cover: 

  • Normal Wear and Tear: The natural aging and use of a product's components.
  • Accidental Damage: Damage resulting from accidents or drops.
  • Misuse: Using the product in a way that goes against the manufacturer's instructions or intended purpose.

  • Read the terms: Always check the warranty document to know the specific coverage, exclusions, and duration.
    Keep records: Maintain your purchase receipt and any service records to prove when the product was bought and that you've followed maintenance schedules.
